Start - Public car park near Nelthorpe Arms, Skinners Lane, DN18 6HN

  • 1
Leave the car park, cross Skinners Lane and follow Low Road, past Old Post Office Lane to the main Sluice Road.
  • 2
Carefully cross Sluice Road, turning right, uphill and soon turning left into Farrishes lane, continue ahead into North End, ignoring The Rise on the right.
  • 3
Continue into the no through road, entering Ferriby Hall grounds. This is private, but the owner (Dennis Ecuyer) allows walking groups. He plans to fence it off soon, so contact him to unlock the gate if needed.
  • 4
Bear right up the lane, turn right along The Cliff past the pond on the left to the junction with Ferriby Hill.
  • 5
Carefully cross road and walk uphill along Middlegate past the quarry along the green lane (Viking Way) to the junction with Horkstow Road.
  • 6
Retrace the route passing the conveyor (in a large pipe) which transports material to the cement works at the Sluice.
  • 7
Bear left down Piggery Hill, a lane leading diagonally down past the churchyard, emerging into the main B1204 road, just right of the Village Hall.
  • 8
Cross road carefully, turn right and then left down School Lane, turning right immediately after the Nelthorpe Arms and up steps back to the car park.
