Start - Village Hall car park, Northorpe Road, DN21 3QR

  1. 1
Start at village hall on Northorpe Road and turn right out of the car park. Caution, no footpath here.
  2. 2
At the T-junction turn right on to Eastgate and proceed past Church Lane on your left. Take the following left turn down a narrow lane (again no footpath), and then turn left on to Crapple Lane.
  3. 3
Follow Crapple Lane to it's junction with Scotter Road, then before Scotter Road crosses the small bridge over Scotton Beck, turn left up a wide track. This is Coffin Lane but it is unsigned. (can be very Muddy after Rain).
  4. 4
Continue on Coffin Lane past the memory tree for ~1.2 km. Look left for two grey metal gates at right angles. Opposite is a small track into the woods. If you reach the power lines, you’ve gone too far—turn back.
  5. 5
Follow the track into the woods to a V-junction. Take the right fork over a dry ditch, then turn immediately right. Continue for ¼ mile, then turn right through a wide fence gap and follow the path to rejoin Coffin Lane.
  6. 6
Turn left onto Coffin Lane and retrace your steps passed the memory tree and back to Scotter Road.
  7. 7
Turn right onto Scotter Rd, then right again onto Eastgate. Continue to where Middle St joins on the left. To extend the walk ~150m, stay on Eastgate, turn left on High St, then right on Middle St to reach Northorpe Rd.
  8. 8
Go along Middle Street till it Joins Northorpe Road, turn left and almost immediately cross the road into the village hall car park.
