Broughton Long Walk

Start - At car park near playing field on Scawby Road, DN20 0AB

   Exit the rear car park heading east toward the school. Take the snicket in the North East corner of the field and exit onto Brigg Road.

   Cross Brigg Road and walk down Mill Lane.

   Turn right at the end of Mill Lane onto Wressle Road and follow this to the bottom of the hill where you will see a small car park on the left.

   Pass through the kissing gate into the grassland and take the path straight ahead toward the woodland.

   Near to the woodland, turn right and then take the second small path on the left and enter the woods.

   Walk straight ahead through the woods and bear right at the end of the path along another woodland path.

   Follow this path for about 100 yards, ignoring the first path on the left, until you reach a narrow track going slightly uphill through coppiced trees. Follow this path (initially heading North North West) to the end where you will reach a crossroads.

   At the crossroads turn right heading downhill to a wooden bridge.

   Cross the wooden bridge & take the righthand path going uphill, and exit the woods. Cross the track and continue alongside the woods, which will now be on your left. Jerry Greens kennels will be in the distance on your right.

    Walk along the field edge path with woods on your left and views of the Wolds on your right. At the end of the first field take the path straight ahead, keeping the woods on your left.

    The path enters woods with a wooden fence on the left. Take the right-hand path through old quarries and SSSIs. Continue until you reach a road and exit via the gate.

    Carefully cross the road, turn left & continue on the verge for about 75 yards until you reach the first gated entrance back into the woods on the left hand side. Re-cross the road and enter the woods.

    Follow this path for about 500 yards until you reach a path on the right heading West. Take this path and follow to the end.

    At the T junction turn left and follow this path for about half mile, ignoring the path on the left. The path follows a barbed wire fence on your right and will turn 90 degrees right half way along.

    With a road in sight ahead of you, you will come across a path on your left heading downhill. Take this path and follow through 2 valleys.

    Leave the wood after the second valley via an embankment into a grassed area, and turn left.

    Follow this path, heading east, until you reach the woodland (East Wood). Do not deviate down any other paths.

    Enter East Wood and turn right uphill. At the gate, the path bears slightly left. Stay on this path, keeping right with a horse paddock on your right. The undulating path leads to a road exit at Town Hill Drive.

    Turn right and enter another clearly marked footpath through a kissing gate. Follow this path which will turn left, keeping a large garden on your lefthand side.

    At the end of the path turn right down a snicket and follow onto Chestnut Grove. Almost directly in front of you, slightly to the left is another snicket between 2 houses. Take this snicket and exit onto a cul-de-sac (Airedale Close).

    At the end of Airedale Close, turn left and follow the road to the T-junction. Bear slightly right and cross to the grassy footpath left of Hailwood House. Head downhill onto a boardwalk—take care, it may be slippery when wet.

    At the end of the boardwalk you will exit into Broughton Pocket Park. Turn left here, cross the bridge and walk uphill. Stay to the right until you reach the High Street.

    Turn right along the High Street. Turn left at the Post Office and follow Scawby Road back to the Phil Grundy Centre on your left.
