Start - Humber Bridge Viewing Area Car Park, DN18 5BE

    Leave the rear of the car park on a surfaced path which goes diagonally into Waterside.

    Cross Waterside Road and then Barton Haven using the footbridge, bending right to go along a path between housing and the Ropewalk, then crossing the supermarket car park to Maltkiln Lane.

    Cross Maltkiln Lane and the Haven, using the footbridge, pass the Railway Station, cross Butts Road and go up Fleetgate.

    At the mini roundabout, turn right and ·g·o straight ahead along West Acridge, ignoring the first two side roads to the left.

    Just before the road end, bear left and left again uphill up Western Drive.

    At Westfield Road, turn right and go through the subway under the A15. At the far end, go up the steps and continue along the road, crossing Gravel Pit Road. Follow the quiet metalled road for about ¾ mile.

    Where the road surface deteriorates to a fine stony track a finger post on the right leads you downhill along a path just before a disused quarry.

    Near the bottom of the slope, ignore a left turn, continue ahead for a few yards to a T junction of paths, turn right; there are now lakes on your left and a hedge on your right.

    The path bends left with woods on your right, hiding an Artesian Blow Hole. Cross the spring via a footbridge. At the fork, bear left between two lakes, cross another footbridge to Far Ings Road, near the old Visitor Centre.

    Turn left along the road, continuing for about ½ mile, the road surface deteriorating before reaching a junction of rough lanes.

    Bear right at the junction, on your left here is the Chowder Ness Foreshore area, opened to the Humber in July 2006, since featured on Country File.

    On reaching the small car park at the end, bear right along the Humber bank top (Viking Way) for about 1 ½ miles, passing 1 ½ miles, passing under the Humber Bridge and soon down to the car park.
