About North Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre

Step back in time and uncover the remarkable wartime history of RAF Hibaldstow at the North Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre (NLAHC) — a volunteer‑run museum dedicated to honouring the men and women from across the Allied nations who served at the seven RAF stations within North Lincolnshire during the Second World War.

Admission is free, but donations are appreciated to support the continued preservation and development of the site.

Located on the former airfield itself, the Centre brings history to life through original WWII buildings, reconstructed Nissen huts, and an impressive and ever‑growing collection of wartime artefacts. Visitors can explore the site’s atmospheric exhibits, including an underground Battle Headquarters, rebuilt Anderson shelter, and the beautifully designed memorial whose layout mirrors the shape of a Spitfire aircraft when viewed from above.

The lovingly restored ‘Dig for Victory’ garden and orchard offer peaceful spaces to pause, picnic and imagine life on the Home Front. The all‑volunteer team has transformed the site into an engaging, accessible heritage attraction that welcomes visitors of all ages — including school groups keen to experience authentic WWII history first‑hand.

Since opening to the public in 2024, the Centre has welcomed visitors from across the UK and overseas, with popular annual events such as the VE Day celebration weekend featuring military vehicles, 1940s entertainment and special exhibitions. The Centre continues to expand, with ongoing improvements supported by local funding.

Whether you're a history enthusiast, aviation fan, or simply curious about North Lincolnshire’s wartime story, the North Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre offers a poignant, hands‑on journey into the region’s past — made possible by an inspiring community of dedicated volunteers.
