Cycling is a pleasure on the quite country lanes. Sustrans Route 1, part of the national cycle network passes through the area and we have developed a network of 13 other enjoyable routes, from 6 to 50 miles in length.
The prolific waters of the River Ancholme attract fishing enthusiasts from across the country. The lazy river is home to nesting and migratory birds and can be enjoyed by boat or along the footpaths from Brigg to South Ferriby.
North Lincolnshire is the home of great golf, with no less than 8 superb courses. There are excellent leisure and sports centres, including a new all year golf and tennis centre. For the more adventurous, there's a sky diving centre, paintball and extreme sports.
One way to really unwind is to take a long distance footpath across the rolling Lincolnshire Wolds. The Nev Cole way links with the Viking Way to create an 89-mile circular walk, through wild shoreline and areas of natural beauty.

Humber Bridge

Opened in 1981, this spectacular bridge was the world's lonest single span suspension bridge. From the walk or cycle ways there are panoramic views across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire. The best views of the bridge are from the south bank viewing area where there are toilets, a children's play area and the nearby Waters' Edge County Park and Visitor Centre.
Pedestrians and cyclists can travel across the bridge for free.

Humber Keel & Sloop Preservation Society

The Humber Keel & Sloop Preservation Society are the proud owners of two historic ships that sail on the River Humber, the Amy Howson and Comrade.
Both boats are available to be booked for sailing trips on the river from May through to September, as well as attending waterways venues. Members of the society are available to give talks and slide shows to groups.

Julian's Bower

Medieval turf maze on the Trent Ridge at Alkborough. An illustration of this mysterious maze is depicted in the entrance to the village church. The views across the confluence of the rivers Trent, Ouse and Humber are spectacular. On a clear day you can see the towers of York Minster.

This affordable 11-hole "pay and play" course is an absolute gem.
